Luke Schmaltz was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico and began scribbling poetry at the age of nine. He spent two-and-a-half decades writing, recording and performing with his punk rock band King Rat before embarking on a career in fiction. He makes his living as a freelance writer and is a frequent contributor to Modern Drunkard Magazine. He lives with his wife and their mutt in Denver, Colorado.
Luke’s lifelong fixation on comic books and counterculture heavily influenced The Belcher — a work he sometimes describes as Marvel-influenced punk rock fiction — Stan Lee meets Charles Bukowski.
